Higgins Records Three Hits in Loss at Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Ben Higgins had two doubles and a single in a 7-2 loss for the Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team at Oakland on Friday (April 7).
Grant Thoroman hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning to score Higgins. It made the score 1-1.
It stayed that way until the Golden Grizzlies pushed one across in the fourth. It became a 4-1 game on a two-run home run by Oakland's Ian Cleary in the fifth.
Thoroman had the Mastodons' second RBI, a fielder's choice, in the eighth. Higgins finished with two doubles and a single. Jarrett Bickel has two singles. Owen Willard took the loss. He is 0-2. He started the game and allowed four runs (three earned) with six strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
Hunter Pidek is 1-1 after starting and going six inning for the win for Oakland. Noah Stants threw the final three innings for the save.
The 'Dons fall to 8-23 (5-6 Horizon League). Oakland improves to 12-17 (6-5 Horizon League). The two teams will close the series on Saturday.
