Non-League Contest at Marquette Goes to the Golden Eagles

MILWAUKEE – Purdue Fort Wayne finished with seven shots on goal on Sunday (Aug. 27) in a 3-0 loss at Big East member Marquette.
Just like the season opener at Wisconsin on Thursday, the 'Dons played the host school to a scoreless first 45 minutes. Marquette had three shots on goal in the first half and the 'Dons had one with Abe Arellano putting one on frame.
Marquette took control in the second half with three goals over an 11-minute span starting in the 48th minute by Chrsitian Marquez. Brooklyn Merl and Mitar Mitrovic followed with goals for the Golden Eagles.
Marco Valencia and Seth Mahlmeister each had two shots on goal. Luke Morrell, Arellano and Soshi Fujioka each had a shot on goal.
Max Collingwood made three saves in his first start as a Mastodon.
Marquette improves to 2-0-0. The 'Dons fall to 0-2-0. Purdue Fort Wayne hosts Bellarmine on Friday (Sept. 1) at 1 p.m. in the 2023 home opener..
