Series History
Purdue Fort Wayne and Wright State have met 17 times on the pitch. The 'Dons hold a 1-15-1 record against the Raiders in the series after Wright State won last season's match 2-1. The Mastodons defeated Wright State 5-1 on Oct. 14, 2005 and tied the Raiders 0-0 on Aug. 25, 2017.
Smart Shooting
Purdue Fort Wayne ranks fourth in Division I in shot accuracy with 55.7 percent of their shots being on goal. Seth Mahlmeister leads the Horizon League with 61.1 percent of his shots being on goal. Mahlmeister averages 1.83 shots on goal per game, also a conference-best and is top 20 nationally as well.
Three's A Streak
The 'Dons have won three straight matches with recent wins over Milwaukee, Chicago State and Green Bay. It's the first time the Mastodons have won three straight since 2018 when they had a three-match winning streak and a four-match winning streak.
Balanced Attack
The Mastodons have seen six different players score a goal this season. Luke Morrell, Marco Valencia and Soshi Fujioka each have one goal while Seth Mahlmeister and Abe Arellano have two each. Both of Arellano's goals were game-winning goals, one against Milwaukee and one against Green Bay. Two game-winning goals is tied for the Horizon League lead in that category.
A Helping Hand
Soshi Fujioka assisted on one of Purdue Fort Wayne's two goals in the most recent win over Green Bay. It was Fujioka's third assist of the season which is the second-most in the Horizon League.
Iron Morrell
Luke Morrell remains the only Mastodon to play all 540 minutes of action this season. In that time, he's scored one goal and 80 percent of his shots have been on goal.
Non-League Challenges:
The 'Dons opened the regular season with a trip to Wisconsin to play at Wisconsin and Marquette. Both squads have been ranked in the top 25 in the nation this season. Purdue Fort Wayne tied Michigan State 2-2 in exhibition play and the Spartans recently made their initial appearance in the top 25.
Up Next
The 'Dons continue their homestand on Wednesday when they host Adrian at 5 PM on September 27.
