Mastodon MVB Hosts No. 4 Hawaii Twice This Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball will play host to No. 4 Hawaii for the first time on Thursday and Friday (Jan. 25-26) in the Gates Sports Center.

No. 4 Hawaii is 3-1 to start the 2024 season after going 29-3 last season and finishing as the national runner-up. The Rainbow Warriors split a series of matches with MIVA member Loyola Chicago to start the season before sweeping their next two matches against Emmanuel of Conference Carolinas. Spyros Chakas leads the team with an average of 4.23 kills per set on .438 hitting. Tread Rosenthal is pacing the offense that hits .350 by dishing out 10.07 assists per set.
Series History
Purdue Fort Wayne is 1-2 against the Rainbow Warriors. The Mastodons' one win came in 1992 at the Asics Grand Prix, Hawaii was ranked No. 8 at the time. Last season, the Mastodons visited the Big Island to play in the Outrigger Volleyball Invitational, which saw the Rainbow Warriors win 3-0. Bryce Walker hit .533 with nine kills in that match.
