Mastodon Men Win 10 Events in Mastodon Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team started the season off with double-digit event victories in the Mastodon Opener on Saturday (Dec. 7).
Two Mastodons began the season with personal records in field events. Michael Drohosky cleared 1.95 meters in the high jump to beat out the competition and Owen Kaufman took first when he threw 15.87 meters in the weight throw.
Three Purdue Fort Wayne freshmen were able to impress, leading the pack in their respective events. Cainen Northington ran a first-place time of 23.23 in the 200 meters and Damien Keys won the long jump with a leap of 6.83 meters, while Josiah Bird threw the furthest mark of 14.63 meters in shot put.
The 'Dons 4x400 meter relay squad beat out all competitors with their time of 3:35.42. Junior Troy Golden led the group of Jonas Morris, Ambrose English and Northington in his first event since recovering from an injury suffered his freshman season.
Andrew Roman cleared 4.45 meters in the pole vault to take first place. Morris completed the 400 meters in 49.57 to take a 0.1 victory over his brother Noah Morris.
Columbia City graduates Austin Hall and Seth Mills both won their respective events. Hall completed the mile in 4:33.48 and Mills ran a 1:26.21 in the 600 meters.
Purdue Fort Wayne hosts the Mastodon Invitational and Multis on January 17-18 for the Mastodons Senior Day.
