INDIANAPOLIS - Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field's Brevin Miller won the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Sportsmanship Award, the league announced on Friday (May 30).
"Although the throwing events took place apart from the main stadium at the league meet, Brevin ensured his energy, encouragement and spirit of camaraderie never faded," Purdue Fort Wayne track and field director Aaron Combs said. "He frequently rallied teammates to cheer for all competitors—not just those in Mastodon uniforms. A true fan of the sport, Brevin could often be seen clapping for big throws and cheering regardless of school colors. His enthusiasm created an environment of mutual respect and celebration in an otherwise isolated part of the meet. Brevin represents the best of what collegiate athletics should be- competitive yet respectful, committed to their own success while lifting up those around them."
Miller is the eighth Mastodon across all sports to earn the Sportsmanship Award since the Horizon League first gave the honor last season.
The Goshen, Indiana native was crowned as javelin champion at the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor Championships with a personal-record 57.51 meters at the league meet. The junior also scored points in the shot put at the league meet, reaching 14.44 meters for seventh in the event. His effort helped the Mastodon men take third place at the outdoor championships, the program's best ever finish.
This is the second honor in as many days for Miller, as he was named Academic All-League on Thursday.
