FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team placed at the top of the leaderboards in five events during the Mastodon Invitational & Multis (Jan. 17-18).
The program honored their seniors prior to today's events, thanking and congratulating 10 Mastodons who dedicated their collegiate careers to the Purdue Fort Wayne program. Breijon Peters, Kobe Milledge, Zyler Johnson, Ezra Lewellen, Cody Loshe and Jackson Marshall were the men's athletes honored before the meet.
Jonas Morris torched the pool of 200 meter competitors with his time of 22.05, over a second faster than second place's time.
Ezra Lewellen clearly led the pack during the 60 meter dash (6.84), finishing 0.1 faster than the next opponent.
Austin Hall was the first 'Don to take a first place spot in the meet, fending off teammate Nicholas Mills (8:38.42) in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:31.93.
Andrew Roman impressed on the pole vault, competing with Indiana Wesleyan's Ridge Willard at the 4.75 mark after both cleared 4.65. While neither cleared the highest mark, Roman completed the 4.65 height on his second attempt to secure the first-place position.
The DMR squad of Nathan Mills, Austin Hall, Tyler Godwin and Colin Gasson (10:38.18) defeated the other two Mastodon DMR squads in an event that commanded all of the Mastodon program's attention in the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse.
The 'Dons will travel to Liberty to compete in the Brant Tolsma Invitational on January 24-25.
