Five 'Dons Chasing Top-10s at Indiana State Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - All five of the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golfers competing for the team score are within range of top-10 finishes after the opening round of the Indiana State Invitational on Sunday (April 7).
With well-rounded individual performances, the Mastodons are just three shots back of the lead. Evansville shot 301 and the 'Dons were right behind at 304. Purdue Fort Wayne is chasing its second team title in as many tournaments.
Anna Olafsdottir and Hunar Mittal both shot 75 in round one. Olafsdottir had six pars in her first eight holes. After making the turn to back nine, she had back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12, then another on 16. She finished with a par to keep her in a tie for third. Mittal dropped in six pars in a row starting on hole five, then birdied 11. After a bogey on 13, she was par or better over her next four with a birdie on 16.
Olivia Jang as one shot behind Olafsdottir and Mittal with an opening round of 76. After four pars in her first five holes, she had two birdies on 10 and 11 to start the back nine. From there, she parred her next eight for an entirely bogey-free back nine. She is in a tie for fifth.
Another two shots back, Adrienne Rohwedder shot 78 to finish in a tie for seventh through 18. She started with three pars in a row, then found her first birdie on the 417-yard par-4 eighth. She added another birdie on 17 to go with her nine pars.
Natalie Papa shot 79 in round one, just one shot off the top-10. She had birdies on hole five and her finishing hole of two. She had just one hole on the back nine that she did not par, setting up for a respectable 39 on the back.
Lillie Cone played as an individual, turning in an 83.
The final round will kick off on Monday (April 8) in the morning.
