Mastodon Track & Field Squads Take on Meyo Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field program will travel to South Bend for the Meyo Invitational (Jan. 31 - Feb. 1), hosted by Notre Dame.

Men: Ezra Lewellen, Jaylin Springer, Cainen Northington, Kobe Milledge, Sam Dunnett, Harrison Niswander, Nicholas Mills, Boden Genovese, Austin Hall, Nathan Mills, Brevin Miller, Zyler Johnson, Josiah Bird, Logan Teichman, Owen Kaufman, Hunter Crew, Jonas Morris, Ambrose English and Noah Morris.

'Dons To Watch
Three events at the Meyo Invitational will include four Mastodons. The women's 60 meter hurdles will feature Jai Reed, Aniya Young, Harmony Johnson and Jordan Yanders. Yanders was the only 'Don to compete in the event last week, finishing in 9.07. Brevin Miller, Zyler Johnson, Josiah Bird and Logan Teichman will compete in the shot put. Johnson threw for 14.23 meters in the event at Liberty. Johnson and Bird will also compete in the weight throw, accompanied by Owen Kaufman and Hunter Crew. Kaufman tossed 14.68 meters at the Tolsma Invitational.
Both 4x400 meter relay squads are fresh to compete after a rest week. Both relay teams include three freshmen. Senior Marissa Van De Weg leads Lillian Hurd, Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach on the women's team, while sophomore Jonas Morris leads Cainen Northington, Ambrose English and brother Noah Morris on the men's squad.
Last Time Out for the Women
The Mastodon women traveled to Liberty for the 5th annual Brant Tolsma Invitational. Louiza Kruiswijk highlighted the event with a school record triple jump (12.04 meters). Lillian Hurd ran a personal record time of 57.28 in the 400 meters. Marissa Van De Weg completed the 800 meters in 2:21.47, quickest of her career.
Last Time Out for the Men
The Mastodon men traveled to Liberty for the 5th annual Brant Tolsma Invitational. Jonas Morris brought home two school records from the meet, running a 21.56 in the 200 meter dash and 47.87 in the 400 meter dash. Michael Drohosky cleared a personal-record mark of 1.96 in the high jump.

Jonas Morris earned Horizon League Men's Track & Field Runner of the Week (Jan. 27) honors after breaking two school records at the Brant Tolsma Invitational (Jan. 23-25). He ran a 21.56 in the 200 meter dash and 47.87 in the 400 meter dash. Both times rank first in the the Horizon League.
