Three School Records Fall at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field program broke three records at Notre Dame's Blue-Gold Invitational on Friday (Dec. 5).
Josiah Bird capped off the meet at Notre Dame by breaking the shot put school record, taking fourth with a 15.91 meter mark. Freshman Max Parciak threw his first collegiate attempts, setting his new career high at 13.47 meters for 12th.
The Mastodons showed out in the 1000 meters, with all four competitors finishing the event for the first time. Three Purdue Fort Wayne runners broke the school's record: Braydn Livingston, Kale Seymour and Joshua Roper. Livingston led the 'Dons with a time of 2:30.89 for seventh, followed by Seymour's 2:32.07 (ninth) and Roper's 2:32.17 (10th). Jack Mills finished the event in 14th (2:43.76).
Three Purdue Fort Wayne runners finished their first 500 meters, all beating the previous school record. Freshman Reagan Shaver won the event with a time of 1:03.47, holding the new record. Ambrose English (1:05.54) and freshman Aaron Hoffer (1:06.18) both followed Shaver in the event, finishing sixth and seventh.
Two freshman appeared in the pole vault, finishing first and second in collegiate competition. Sawyer Ruminer finished his first collegiate event, finishing with a mark of 4.65 meters for second overall. Dalyn Givens cleared 4.50 meters in his first meet, taking third.
The Mastodons threw two personal record marks in the weight throw. Hunter Crew tossed a mark of 16.42 meters and Bird finished with a new 16.39 meter PR.
Kaleb Tucker ran a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.29 for fifth.
Freshman Gregory James led the 'Dons in the 200 meters, finishing his first collegiate event in a time of 22.70 for 22nd. Tucker ran another personal record in the 200 meters, running a time of 22.72 to take 24th. Jaylin Springer ran a personal record time of 23.28 to earn 32nd.
Springer also ran a personal record time in the 60 meter dash, leading Purdue Fort Wayne with a time of 7.04 for 18th. Freshman Ashton Brann (7.16) and Luca Merita (7.25) both completed their first collegiate 60 meter dash at Notre Dame, finishing in 28th and 38th.
Troy Golden ran a personal record time 1:59.52 in the 800 meters, finishing in sixth.
Brann also competed in his first collegiate 300 meters, finishing in sixth with a time of 35.07.
The Mastodons host the Mastodon Invitational on January 17th for their next meet.
