Mastodon 4x400 Meter Relay Squad Breaks School Record at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track & field team brings home six top-10 finishes in the final day of the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 1), hosted by Notre Dame.
In the final women's event of the meet, the Mastodon 4x400 meter relay squad broke the program's record in the event. Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach, Marissa Van De Weg and Lillian Hurd ran the relay in 3:49.56, beating the prior mark by 0.02 seconds. This time earned the relay team fourth in the meet.
Jordan Yanders tied her personal record time in the 60 meter hurdles final, finishing in 8.57 and fourth in the event. Yanders earned a spot in the finals after finishing fifth in the preliminaries (8.74). Jaliyah Page finished the preliminary round in 9.07 and in 12th.
Harmony Johnson ran a personal record 60 meter dash in the preliminary round, finishing in 10th with a time of 7.72. Aniya Young and Jai Reed completed the meet in back-to-back places, Young in 14th (7.75) and Reed in 15th (7.76).
Ali Sparks was the lone Mastodon seen in the meet's weight throw. Sparks earned fourth with a mark of 16.66 meters.
Ava Genovese led the 'Dons in the 3000 meters. Genovese placed 10th with a time of 9:58.20. Haylee Hile was the next Mastodon to cross the finish line, in 23rd (10:14.35). Lydia Carrell finished in 33rd with a time of 10:40.81.
Riley Tate was the only Purdue Fort Wayne entree in the mile, placing 35th (5:01.49).
The Mastodons will head to the Indianapolis Fairgrounds on February 8 to compete in the Fairgrounds Invitational.
