'Dons Split Up to Take on Fairgrounds Invitational and Mrs. G Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - This weekend the Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams will diverge between the Mrs. G Invitational (Feb. 7), hosted by Trine, and the Fairgrounds Invitational (Feb. 8) at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds.

Last Time Out for the Men
The Mastodons competed in Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational (Jan, 31-Feb.2). Ezra Lewellen ran a school record time in the 60 meter dash (6.72). This mark earned him first at both the meet and in the Horizon League. The 4x400 meter relay team broke the school record in the last event of the day. Jonas Morris, Ambrose English, Cainen Northington and Noah Morris completed the relay in 3:16.11 and sit as the fastest time in the league, second at the meet.
Last Time Out for the Women
The 'Dons traveled to the Meyo Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 2), hosted by Notre Dame. The 4x400 meter relay squad broke the school record in the second to last event of the day. Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach, Marissa Van De Weg and Lillian Hurd ran a time of 3:49.56 to take fourth at the meet, the fastest time in the Horizon League by over four seconds. Ali Sparks threw for 14.27 meters in the shot put, improving on her first place mark in the Horizon League and taking fourth at the meet. Jordan Yanders tied her personal record time in the 60 meter hurdles (8.57) to place fourth in both the meet and in Horizon League standings. Ava Genovese ran a 9:58.20 in the 3000 meter, placing 10th in the meet and fourth in the league.

Jonas Morris earned Horizon League Men's Track & Field Runner of the Week (Jan. 27) honors after breaking two school records at the Brant Tolsma Invitational (Jan. 23-25). He ran a 21.56 in the 200 meter dash and 47.87 in the 400 meter dash. Both times rank first in the the Horizon League.
