Governors Take Two from Purdue Fort Wayne

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team fell to Austin Peay 6-2 and 6-1 in a doubleheader on Sunday (Feb. 23) in non-league action.
Game One – Austin Peay 6, Mastodons 2
Zane Danielson earned a no-decision after allowing one run in 5.2 innings of work. He struck out one Governor.
It was a 2-2 game in the eighth when the Governors scored four times with two outs.
Justin Osterhouse and Brooks Sailors each knocked in a run in the contest.
Mark Luke took the loss. Kaleb Applebey got the win for Austin Peay after tossing the final 1.2 innings.
Game Two – Austin Peay 6, Mastodons 1
Gavin Walters allowed three runs in 4.2 innings. The final two runs came in the fifth inning. He took the loss and is now 0-2.
Jackson Micheels hit a solo home run for the Mastodons in the ninth. Nick Hockemeyer and Brooks Sailors each had a double for the 'Dons. Sage Adams walked twice and recorded a single.
Austin Peay scored once run in the third, two in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth. They had nine hits in the game. John Bay, Cameron Nickens and Gus Freeman each had a home run in the contest.
Austin Peay improves to 4-3. The 'Dons fall to 0-6. The two clubs will close out the four-game series on Monday (Feb. 24).
