FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne volleyball program will honor Mastodon legend Hector Soto on Friday (March 10) during the match against No. 8 Loyola Chicago.

The Ramblers are 6-2 through MIVA play this far, beating McKendree, Ohio State, Quincy, Purdue Fort Wayne and Ball State. Parker Van Buren sits second in the nation in both kills per set (4.36) and points per set (5.26). Hector Soto
Soto's number 13 will be raised above Arnie Ball Court to recognize his four-year Mastodon career from 1997 to 2000. Soto is the program's all-time leader in career kills (2,193), single-season kills (705) and single-match kills (51). He was an AVCA All-America First Team selection in 1999 and 2000 as well as a Second Team pick in 1998. Soto helped the 1999 team to a MIVA Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Soto will join Lloy Ball and Raul Papaleo as Mastodon men's volleyball student-athletes with their uniforms retired.

Logan Muir leads the MIVA in kills per set (5.18) and points per set (5.68) during conference play.

Both Casey Lyons and Andrew Mayer have started every match for Purdue Fort Wayne this season.
He Can Do It
JP Candrian earned his first MIVA Player of the Week award, earning Defensive Player of the Week (Jan. 28). Candrian led the Mastodons to a 2-0 week, beating both LIU (Jan. 23) and Lees-McRae (Jan. 25) on the Arnie Ball Court. The freshman averaged 2.67 digs during the stretch, collecting 16 in the five-set victory over LIU. The Florida native added 0.67 blocks per set to his weekly totals.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne added two wins to their record, beating both Thomas More (March 7) and Maryville (March 11). Logan Muir set a career-high five aces in the three-set sweep over Thomas More. JP Candrian (15k, 10d) notched a double-double in the five-set victory against Maryville.
