Two 'Dons Set PR's at WashU Distance Carnival

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team's Ava Genovese and Lydia Carrell set personal records at the WashU Distance Carnival (March 27-28).
Carrell smashed her 10000 meters personal record in day one of the meet (March 27), running the event in 36:52.05 for 33rd. Riley Tate led all 'Dons in the event, earning 13th with a time of 35:24.07. Kynzlei Bassett completed her first collegiate 10000 meters in 38:46.90, placing 68th.
Haylee Hile was the lone Mastodon to compete in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:21.32 for eighth. Hile's time is the second quickest time in Horizon League standings.
As the Mastodons entered day two (March 28), Genovese ran a personal record time of 4:36.84 in the 1500 meters to earn 18th at the meet and to lead all league competition.
Bella Hodges finished the 800 meters in the HL's quickest mark (2:14.07) for sixth at St. Louis.
Faith Allen rounded out the 'Dons 10000 meters group, completing the event in 42:01.98 for 91st.
Mercedes Sarver represented the Purdue Fort Wayne alumni team in the 5000 meters, placing 15th with a time of 18:10.62.
Purdue Fort Wayne will be competing in the Pacesetter Sports Invitational on Saturday (March 29). Harmony Johnson, Lillian Hurd, Aniya Young, Jaliyah Page, Sanayah Ruffin, Jordan Yanders, Bella Hodges, Ava Genovese, Haylee Hile, Faith Norris, Amanda Williams, Haley Sponaugle, Ella Jenkins, Amelie Mach, Marissa Van De Weg, Ellie Zagel, Aubrey Haas, Scout Warner, Louiza Kruiswijk, Kaylee Rogaczewski, Martia Williams, Ali Sparks, McKayla Henry, Makenna Dommer, Emery Carrico, Francesca Carlo, Hayma Ong and Emilia Russell will be competing at the meet.
