FRANKLIN, Wis. – Purdue Fort Wayne dropped a Horizon League baseball contest at Milwaukee on Saturday (May 10) afternoon 7-4 at Franklin Field.
Both teams scored a pair of runs in the first inning. The Mastodons' runs came home on a two-RBI single by Drew Helton. Jackson Micheels knocked in Justin Osterhouse with a single in the third to put the 'Dons up 3-2. Mastodon starter Tyson Greenwood settled in after the first inning and went six innings, giving up just the two runs on six hits and only one walk. Cole Newell entered in the seventh. He ended up taking the loss (2-4). A pair of errors behind him help lead to five unearned runs in the frame.
Micheels and Helton each had two hits in the game. Nick Hockemeyer and Owen Willard had back-to-back triples in the eighth to put a run on the board.
Tyler Andrews (1-1) got the win for Milwaukee. Tyler Bickers and Charlie Marion each drove in two for Milwaukee.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 10-37 (8-17 Horizon League). The Panthers are now 19-31 (14-11 Horizon League).
The two teams will play again on Sunday (May 11) in the final game of the series. The contest will be played at Simmons Field in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
