One-Run Decision Goes to Milwaukee 4-3

KENOSHA, Wis. – Milwaukee scored a run in the seventh to tie it and a run in the eighth to go ahead in Purdue Fort Wayne's 4-3 loss to the Panthers on Sunday (May 11) afternoon in Horizon League play.
Justin Osterhouse got the scoring going with one out in the first inning when he hit a solo home run. It is his 11th home run of the year. Kevin Hall opened the second with a single and came around to score on a Ben Kasparie sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Milwaukee scored two in the bottom of the third without the benefit of a hit. The 'Dons got out of a jam with a 5-4-3 double play. The Mastodons played error-less baseball on Sunday and had a pair of impressive plays. Garrett Maish made a leaping catch against the wall to close the fourth inning. Osterhouse had a diving play at third in the sixth inning.
Milwaukee's Tristan Ellis used a two-out RBI single in the eighth to knock in Caden Headlee and put the Panthers ahead for good at 4-3. The 'Dons challenged in the ninth as Nick Hockemeyer used a pinch-hit two-out RBI single to put the game-tying run on base. But he was stranded there to end the game.
Trent Murphy (2-4) took the loss for the 'Dons. Riley Peterson (2-0) got the win and Logan Snow picked up his sixth save of the year. Aidan Pearson didn't get a decision, but was strong for the 'Dons. He went 4.2 innings out of the pen and allowed just one run.
Hall finished with a pair of hits. Sage Adams walked twice.
Milwaukee improves to 20-31 (15-11 Horizon League). The 'Dons fall to 10-38 (8-18 Horizon League).
Purdue Fort Wayne will close the regular season this week at home against Wright State. The three-game series will start on Thursday.
