Osterhouse Hits Grand Slam in Loss to Wright State

A day after hitting four home runs, Osterhouse hit his 16th home run of the season thanks to a seventh inning grand slam. He is third in program history for single-season home runs. Osterhouse now has 45 RBIs on the season, tied for 8th in program history. Osterhouse went 3-for-4 with a double on the day. Drew Helton was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Camden Karczewski put together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding two RBIs.
Freshman Tyson Greenwood (0-4) went the three innings and got the loss.
Trailing 3-0, the Mastodons scored two in the bottom of the first. Karczewski drove in the two runs for Purdue Fort Wayne with a single, that scored Brooks Sailors and Osterhouse.
The Mastodons kept the deficit at 3-2 before tying the score in the second. Helton came across to score the lone run of the inning for Purdue Fort Wayne.
Wright State broke the tie and took an 11-3 lead heading into the fifth, when Purdue Fort Wayne closed the gap to 11-5. Kevin Hall's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run output in the frame for the Mastodons. In the end, Wright State scored six in the seventh and six in the eighth to pull away from the 'Dons.
Every Mastodons starter reached base safely in the game.
Wright State was led offensively by Boston Smith, who went 4-for-6 with a double, a home run and seven RBIs. JP Peltier hit a grand slam in the eighth. Cam Allen (6-3) got the win for Wright State.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 11-39 (9-19 Horizon League). Wright State improves to 33-18 (24-5 Horizon League). The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Saturday (May 17). It will be Senior Day for the 'Dons in a 1 p.m. first pitch.
