Sailors Extends On-Base Streak to 38 Games

Brooks Sailors used a first inning walk to extend his on-base streak to 38 games. It set a new NCAA Division I era record for longest on-base streak. He'd add a double in the fifth and another walk in the ninth.
Sailors was on first base when Justin Osterhouse hit a two-run home run to put the Mastodons ahead 2-0. It was Osterhouse's 10th home run of the season.
Oakland scored a pair of unearned runs off Dillion Fischer in the second inning to knot up the game.
Camden Karczewski drove in two with a double in the fifth and Dylan Chargo hit a home run in the sixth to put the 'Dons ahead 5-2. Oakland entered the ninth down 5-3, but tied the game with a two-out single by Matthew McGann. John Lauinger used a single two batters later to win it for Oakland.
Fischer allowed five runs (three earned) with one strikeout in 8.1 innings. Trent Murphy suffered the loss for the 'Dons. Ethan Glassman threw the final three innings to get the win.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 8-35 (6-15 Horizon League). Oakland improves to 14-33 (7-15 Horizon League). The two teams will play again on Saturday (May 3).
