Haiden Means Earns Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational All-Tournament Team Nod

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Haiden Means earned a spot on the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational All-Tournament Team, but the Mastodons fell to Toledo 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 30-28) in the tournament nightcap.

Means finished the tournament with 116 assists (9.67 per set) as the primary setter in the Mastodons 5-1. She added 2.58 digs and 0.42 kills and blocks per set. Means is the second Mastodon setter to be named to the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational All-Tournament Team in the last two editions. Nicole Jones was the tournament MVP a year ago.
The final match of the weekend for the Mastodons featured yet another lengthy extended set, with the third going to 30-28. The 'Dons railed 23-20 before Means and Plemons had a block that started a 3-0 run to tie it up. From there, the 'Dons held off four set points, but were turned away on two of their own. Eventually, Toledo earned three in a row to take the match, despite the 12 ties and two lead changes. Riley Rosneck had five of her seven kills in the third set. PFW hit .350 behind Rosneck's arm.
Trinity Rye finished with a team-high 10 kills. Becky Barrett had 14 digs. Means had 25 assists, nine digs, three kills and two blocks. Toledo's Sophie Catalano and Jessica Costlow had 11 kills each to lead the match.
Purdue Fort Wayne fell to 2-9. Toledo improved to 8-3. The Mastodons are back on the Arnie Ball Court on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 26-27) when Robert Morris comes to town for the Horizon League opener.
