Purdue Fort Wayne MG Turns in Top-10 36-Hole Performance at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf's AJ Agnew and Julian Dugan both shot 1-under par in the opening day of the 2025-26 season. The Mastodons are in ninth place as a team after two rounds at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Monday (Sept. 8).
As a team, the Mastodons shot 279-283-562. That 36-hole mark is fifth-best in program history. The 279 in round one is a top-10 mark in the Mastodons' 18-hole history.
AJ Agnew shot 71-70-141 on Monday. He had three birdies on both sides of round one. He got birdies to fall on one, three eight, 11, 17 and 18. His six birdies in round one were the most of any Mastodon. In round two, he continued his birdie stretch with one on 14 to start. He parred 15 and 16, then birdied 17 and 18. Agnew rattled of seven pars on the front and four more on the back to finish up day one in 31st place.
In round one, Julian Dugan started with five pars before his only bogey of the round. From that point, he was 3-under over the final 12 holes without another bogey. He birdied hole 17, immediately moving back to even, then he managed a bogey-free front nine with birdies on holes one and eight. Dugan's hot start bled into round two, as he was bogey-free for another seven holes, capped off with another birdie on 17. A bogey on 18 and triple on two were the only blemishes on his second scorecard, as he had birdies on seven and 10 to finish his day. Dugan turned in a 69-72-141 to take 31st place after 36 holes.
In his first round back after an injury a year ago, Justin Hicks shot 1-under. He birdied his first hole, the 561-yard 11th, staying even or better for the first seven holes. After a bogey on 18, Hicks was bogey-free on the front with birdies on three and five. In round two, Hicks had three bogeys and 12 pars over the first 15 holes before birdieing holes eight and nine to finish the day with a 70-72-142 in 37th place.
Brock Reschly was 2-under in his opening round, and, like Dugan, had just one bogey over 18 holes. He birdied hole 13, his second hole of the day. After 11 pars in a row, he bogeyed seven, but birdied eight to go back under par. After his even front, Reschly parred 10 and birdied 11 to finished with a 69. In the afternoon, he birdied three of his first four holes, with birdies on 12, 14 and 15. He parred the last three holes of the side before adding four pars on the front. Reschly finished at 69-74-143 for 44th place.
Nick Holder turned in a 75-69-144 for 47th place. He started his day with back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14. For the rest of the round, he parred nine holes and birdied 11. In the afternoon, Holder birdied holes 17, five, nine and 10 for a 2-under performance.
Landon Smith played as an individual, shooting 76-68-144, tying with Holder for 47th.
The final round of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational will begin on Tuesday morning (Sept. 9).
