'Dons Top IU Indy on Saturday; Will Head to Green Bay For #HLMBB First Round

INDIANAPOLIS – Four Mastodons finished in double-digits in Purdue Fort Wayne's 87-81 victory at IU Indy on Saturday (Feb. 28). It was the regular season finale for the Mastodons.
The 'Dons wrap the regular season 17-14 (11-9 Horizon League). The Mastodons are the No. 6 seed in the 2026 Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championship and will play at No. 5 seed Green Bay on Tuesday (March 3) in an 8 p.m. ET start.
Corey Hadnot II finished with 17 points. Mikale Stevenson recorded 15 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists. Maximus Nelson totaled 13 points and nine rebounds. DeAndre Craig Jr added 11 points.
A Stevenson 3-pointer to close the first half started a 23-11 run which continued early in the second half for the Mastodons. The 'Dons went 8-of-9 from the free throw line in the stretch. Success at the line was a key reason for the win on Saturday. The Mastodons shot 21-of-25 compared to IU Indy's 7-of-9. The Mastodons also forced 14 turnovers while committing only seven.
All nine Mastodons to see the court on Saturday had multiple baskets. Purdue Fort Wayne finished at 47.5 percent (29-of-61). IU Indy shot 49.2 percent (31-of-63) and were led by Maguire Mitchell's 20 points.
IU Indy finishes the regular season 7-24 (3-17 Horizon League).
