
Men's Soccer Falls in Regular Season Finale

Macomb, IL - Western Illinois scored five unanswered goals, beating IPFW 5-1, in the final regular season soccer match for the Mastodons today in Macomb, Illinois.
The loss puts IPFW at 2-14-1 going into Tuesday's MAC Conference Play-IN game with the University at Buffalo at 7pm.
The day started off well for the Mastodons as freshman defender Josh Sommer registered his second goal of the season. Sommer let fly with a "bicycle kick" off of a corner from senior Barry Morgan, making it 1-0.
The 'Dons lead was gone just over three minutes later as the Leatherneck's Matt Wieclaw scored an unassisted goal at the 20:01 mark. Western Illinois (13-7-0) got the game winner in the 25th minute as Dan Zwerling converted on a penalty kick. WIU added three more in the second half to win going away, 5-1.
IPFW's match with Buffalo will be in New York. This is the second time this season the two will meet. Buffalo topped IPFW 1-0, on September 29, at Hefner Stadium.
