Tulsa, OK - Despite a huge effort from junior goal keeper Michael Knitter, Oral Roberts shutout IPFW, 2-0 in a Summit League match, Saturday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The current Summit League defender of the week made 13 saves in the match.
However, the Golden Eagles were able to find the back of the net to open the scoring in the 32nd minute. ORU junior midfielder Gary Duran lined up a free kick from about 20 yards out and converted for his second goal of the season.
Oral Roberts kept that cushion throughout most of the match, and added an insurance goal with less than four minutes remaining.
Sophomore forward George Davila ripped a shot off the crossbar that came directly to sophomore midfielder Michael Lind. Lind had the net to all to himself for his first of the season.
IPFW tested ORU freshman goal keeper Andrew Techanchuk five times but couldn't score. Sophomore midfielder Chris Dolinski had two of those shots on goal for the Mastodons.
Oral Roberts (4-7-1, 1-1-0 SL) out shot IPFW 27-10 in the match.
IPFW falls to 3-9-1, 0-3-0 SL with the loss.
The 'Dons will travel to Rochester, Michigan next Saturday for a conference match with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. Kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
