Rochester, MI - The Oakland University Golden Grizzlies moved to 4-0 in Summit League play with a 1-0 shut out of IPFW on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, Michigan.
Oakland (7-5-2, 4-0-0 SL) got the lone goal of the match in the 14th minute of play on a chip shot by junior midfielder Gabe Hernandez.
Hernandez chipped a pass from junior midfielder Piotr Nowak over the head of IPFW goal keeper Michael Knitter from just outside the 18.
In a match controlled entirely by the Golden Grizzlies, it was Knitter who kept the 'Dons hopes alive with a 10 save effort. Unfortunately for the Mastodons (3-10-2, 0-4-0 SL) they could only manage to get off two shots in the match.
OU keeper Steve Clark turned aside the only shot on goal he faced for his league-leading fifth shut out of the season.
IPFW will play their final non-conference match of the season on Thursday night, hosting Wright State at 7:00 p.m.
