Volleyball Hits the Road to Fargo and Brookings

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons once again take to the road to close out its final four-match road swing of the season this weekend, as the squad travels to North Dakota State and South Dakota State for key Summit League battles on Friday and Saturday.

SCOUTING THE BISON...
North Dakota State comes into the weekend with a 9-2 conference record, a half-game ahead of the Mastodons for second place in the league standings, while sporting a 16-8 overall record.
Brynn Joki leads a quintet of Bison with over 100 kills with 260, as Lauren Cammack (203), Chrissy Knuth (196), Megan Lambertson (184), and Janna Deyle (146) round out the list. The benefactor of the majority of the assists has been senior Jennifer Lopez, who has 908 assists (10.68 per set). Cammack leads the team with 30 service aces, with Joki (22), and Lopez (19) close behind.
Defensively Andrea Henning has been the leader for the team with 361 digs, while Joki has 250, Knuth 240, and Lopez 232. Deyle paces the squad with 64 blocks, while Knuth and Joki have 55 and 44, respectively.
SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS...
Since the first time the Mastodons and Jackrabbits met on the volleyball court, the two teams have went in different directions, with IPFW going 8-1 from the meeting to present, while SDSU has gone 2-9 and are now 12-12 overall and
4-7 in league play.
Offensively Kelli Fiegen has been the primary catalyst for the 'Jacks with 283 kills, as Kaitlin Klingemann has 210, Ellyce Youngren 170, and Kelly Herrmann 132. Lexi Fowler has dished out 823 assists (9.57 per set), while Klingemann
and Youngren have 23 and 19 service aces apiece.
Defending Summit League Defensive Player of the Week Shay Birath leads the defense with 444 digs (5.16 per set), as Hermann (232) and Emily Palmer (220) each have over 200 on the year. Fiegen, the reigning Summit League Player of the Year, has a team-best 84 blocks, with Youngren and Klingemann adding 51 and 44, respectively.

• Tessa McGill was named to the Collegiate Volleyball.com National Top Performer List on October 18
• Emily Spencer has 15 double-doubles in her 21 matches at IPFW, a freshman record, while Megan Steenhuysen has picked up five this season, giving her 32 in her career, tied for the eighth most over a career in program history
• Against South Dakota, IPFW head coach Kelley Hartley Hutton picked up her 400th career coaching victory
• Tessa McGill has climbed into 16th in Summit League history in career digs.
• Emily Spencer's 29 kills against Eastern Michigan were tied for the fourth most in a match in school history, and the most ever by a freshman
• IPFW junior libero Tessa McGill was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on September 12, the fourth time in her career she has earned the honor
• Freshman outside hitter Kendall Wienkes tied the IPFW single-match three-set record with seven service aces against the Cowgirls of Wyoming.
• With 35 digs against Western Illinois on October 10, Tessa McGill now has eight 30+ dig efforts in her career at IPFW.
• Emily Spencer has recorded double-figure kills in each of her first 21 matches this season, the longest streak by a player to open her IPFW career in program history, passing the former mark of nine held by IPFW career kill leader Fabiana Souza.
• Junior libero Tessa McGill has recorded double-figure digs in each of her last 29 games dating back to last season, the second longest such streak in program history which gives her two of the three longest such streaks.
• McGill became the program's 14th member of the 1,000-dig club against Milwaukee, and she reached 1,000 career digs in just 69 matches, the quickest to the milestone of any player in program history.
