Mastodons Face Coyotes in Key Summit League Battle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons face off against the South Dakota State Coyotes for the first time in each program's history on Friday evening at the Gates Sports Center. The Mastodons come into the meeting with an 11-6 record, and 4-2 in conference play while South Dakota is 10-8 overall, and 5-2 in the league.

SCOUTING THE COYOTES...
South Dakota comes into Friday evening's contest having won nine of its last 11 matches, and going 4-2 in league play.
The match features two or the most prominent freshmen in the league, IPFW's Emily Spencer, and USD's Kendall Kritenbrink. Kritenbrink leads the conference by averaging 4.11 kills per set (230 for the season), and his hitting at
a percentage of .240 with 102 digs.
Four others, Amber Schoff (142), Tahnee Reed (137), Natalie Walseth (136), and Kim Bulaga (107) have each reached triple digits, with Tori Kroll, the team's setter, just off of the pace with 93. Kroll,
a reigning Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, has dished out 705 assists for an average of 9.93 per set.
Reed and Riley Haug have 21 and 20 service aces, each, while Carol Logato has a team-high 231 digs, with Haug close behind with 203. Leading the block for the Coyotes has been Reed who has 57 blocks, while Walseth is not far
behind with 49.

• With 32 digs against Eastern Michigan on October 4, Tessa McGill now has seven 30+ dig efforts in her career at IPFW.
• Emily Spencer has recorded double-figure kills in each of her first 17 matches this season, the longest streak by a player to open her IPFW career in program history, passing the former mark of nine held by IPFW career kill leader Fabiana Souza.
• Junior libero Tessa McGill has recorded double-figure digs in each of her last 25 games dating back to last season, the second longest such streak in program history which gives her two of the three longest such streaks.
• McGill became the program's 14th member of the 1,000-dig club against Milwaukee, and now has 1,231 for her career, is ninth most in program history. She reached 1,000 career digs in just 69 matches, the quickest to the milestone of any player in program history.
• Emily Spencer has 12 double-doubles in her 17 matches at IPFW, while Megan Steenhuysen has picked up four this
season, giving her 31 in her career, the ninth most over a career in program history
