FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The 2011-12 IPFW Mastodons face off against its first ranked opponent of the year when they face off against #13/14 Xavier University on Tuesday evening at the Cintas Center.

SCOUTING THE MUSKETEERS
Xavier comes into Tuesday's game after topping Morgan State 74-63, as Mark Lyons scored a game-high 22 points, and Dezmine Wells added a dozen.
Playing without preseason All-American Tu Holloway, the Musketeers made 28-of-57 shots from the field, and 6-of-14 from long range in the 11-point win. Lyons also led the team with seven rebounds and six assists, while Andre Walker added six rebounds.
LAST TIME OUT
A career-high 29 points from Frank Gaines helped IPFW to an 83-72 victory over Nebraska Omaha in the season opener for both squads, leading the squad to the first victory under new head coach Tony Jasick.
Trey McCorkle scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the double-double, while Jason Smeathers also reached double figures in the scoring column with 10. Joe Edwards added eight and Mario Hines seven, coming just shy of the double-figure pace.
Jonny Marlin dished out nine assists in his first game in an IPFW uniform, while adding five points and a game-high four steals. McCorkle's rebounding total was highest in the game, while Gaines narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Overall, IPFW out-rebounded the Mavericks 39-to-33.
The Mastodons jumped ahead to a 9-0 lead through the first four and a half minutes, and never trailed in the contest.
FAMILIAR FACE
When Mastodon fans look towards the Xavier bench on Tuesday evening, they will see a very familiar face. After ending his playing career with 1,400 points, the fourth most in program history, Ben Botts took a position with the Musketeer basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach.
