
Road Trip Concludes at Western Illinois

Macomb, IL - IPFW will try to get back on the winning track against Western Illinois on Saturday night at Waste Management Court. The Mastodons dropped the front end of their conference road trip, 86-77 on Thursday night at Conseco Fieldhouse to IUPUI. IPFW topped Western Illinois, 68-55 earlier this year in Fort Wayne.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons are led in scoring by senior guard Ben Botts (6-0/170/Muncie, IN) at 13.7 points a game.
Sophomore guard Frank Gaines (6-5/190/Ft. Lauderdale, FL) is averaging 13.4 points a game, and junior guard Jeremy Mixon (6-1/175/Indianapolis, IN) rounds out the top-three scorers for the 'Dons at 10.7 points a contest.

The Mastodons are nearly golden when each of the following occurs: They are 11-1 when leading at the half; 4-0 when scoring between 80-89 points; 3-0 when holding opponents to 50-59 points; 6-1 when shooting above 50.0%; and 8-0 when outrebounding opponents. With their loss to IUPUI, IPFW falls out of either first or second place in The Summit League standings for the first time this season. IPFW, at 8-4 is in sole possession of third place going into tonight's game.
SCOUTING THE LEATHERNECKS
Western Illinois is led in scoring by senior guard Matt Lander (6-4/185/Evansville, IN) who is averaging 16.5
points a game. Junior college transfer forward Kaimarr Price (6-8/235/Phoenix, AZ) is second on the team in scoring at 10.4 points a contest, while sophomore forward Jack Houpt (6-7/210/Chesterton,?IN) rounds out the top-three in scoring at 7.0 ppg.
WHAT 2 WATCH 4
Western Illinois has been hampered by injuries all season long. Senior guard Brandon Smith became the latest Leatherneck to join the injured list, suffering an ankle injury and sitting out the Oakland game. WIU has also been without Tommy Tyler, David Gebru, Billy Molinari and All-League performer Ceola Clark. IPFW owns an 8-2 margin in the overall series with WIU. Zack Plackemeier scored 16 points and dished out six assists to lead IPFW?past WIU, 68-55 at the Coliseum on Jan. 6. Matt Lander also had 16 for the Leathernecks. IPFW hit 10 triples and went 12-12 from the free throw line.
