Las Vegas, NV - In the final day of the Summit League cluster play in Las Vegas, Nevada, the IPFW women's tennis team swept the Oakland Grizzlies, 7-0, on Saturday to go 4-0 against conference opponents this weekend.
The Mastodons move to 20-3 overall (4-0 SL) while the Grizzlies drop to 3-5 overall (2-1 SL).
In doulbles play, IPFW earned the doubles point after picking up wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The duo of Amy Recht and Ingrid Ballus won 8-1 at the No. 1 position. The Mastodons followed with 8-3 wins from Alex Forsyth and Caterina Kiefer at the No. 2 spot and also the No. 3 doubles pair of Raquel Vescovi and Yuka Kobayashi.
IPFW went on to claim all of the six singles matches in straight sets. At the No. 2 spot, Ballus defeated OU's Jackie Dinicu, 6-1, 6-0 to increase her win streak to 13 while at the No. 4 spot, Kiefer increased her win streak to 20 after winning 6-1, 6-1.
The Mastodons will return to action in a little over three weeks on April 14 when they head to Brookings, South Dakota for the second round of conference cluster play. In day one, IPFW will face Western Illinois at 10:00 p.m. and IUPUI at 3:00 p.m. (EST).
