Winona Lake, IN - In their last non-conference match of the season, the IPFW women's tennis team defeated the Grace College Lancers, 9-0, in Winona Lake, Indiana en route to 21-3 overall record this season.
In a nine-point match format, the Mastodons swept the Lady Lancers in both doubles and singles matches.
In doubles action, IPFW seniors Amy Recht and Ingrid Ballus were perfect in picking up the No. 1 position, 8-0. The 'Dons claimed 8-1 wins at both the No. 2 and 3 position.
Against the Lady Lancers in singles play, Recht dominated the No. 1 spot in a 6-0, 6-0 win while at the No. 2 position, Ballus won 6-0, 6-1. IPFW won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot by Caterina Kiefer and Alex Forsyth at No. 6. In an exhibition match, IPFW's Frederique Sunstrum won 8-2.
IPFW will return to action in the final conference-cluster of the season next weekend (April 14-16) with four matches in Brookings, South Dakota. The Mastodons will face Western Illinois at 10:00 a.m. (est) and IUPUI at 3:00 p.m. (est) on day one of the cluster on Friday (April 14).
