Sioux Falls, SD - Behind a fourth place finish by Courtney Bowen in the discus throw, the IPFW Mastodons earned nine points on the final day of the 2011 Summit League Championships.
Bowen's toss of 148-feet, 5-inches (45.23 meters) is the third longest throw in program history, and earned five points for the Mastodons. With the toss, Bowen's top six throws this season are the sixth longest in program history.
North Dakota State won the 2011 Summit League Championship with 241 points, while Southern Utah placed second with 163 points. South Dakota State (150 points), Oral Roberts (86), Western Illinois (55), UMKC (52), Oakland (50), and IPFW (21) rounded out the eight teams in the field.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Julie Jeszenszky, Courtney Bowen, Kayla Boyes, and Nicole Parry took seventh in the event with a time of 57.31.
Kaylin Taylor finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 1:08.54, the fifth fastest time in program history, as Taylor has five of the top seven times in school history. Taylor was also a member of the eighth-place 4x400-meter relay team, which consisted of Sarah Hutchings, Boyes, and Jessica McNulty. The quartet of quarter-milers finished the relay in a time of 4:35.64.
Felicia Mondry took 12th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:10.06 in the 3.1-mile race, as Kim Matusik (17th/18:50.47) and Jordan Tomecek (21st/19:22.23) also competed for the Mastodons in the event. Sarah Hutchings placed 18th in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:22.33.
