Tulsa, OK - The IPFW Mastodons take off on its longest road trip of the 2011 regular season, opening with the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts University on Thursday evening, before continuing west for a Saturday, October 1 meeting with the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah University.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Oral Roberts is off to an 11-4 start to the season, and have won 11 of its last 12 games after starting the season 0-3. The team is on a current four-match win streak, with the only loss since the early portion of the season coming at home against South Dakota in five sets.
Leading the attack for the Golden Eagles is a pair of players, Elizabeth McVicker and Sheina Fernandez, who have 148 and 144 kills, respectively. Joana Gruber is also in triple digits with 107 kills, while Tatum Fredeen (92), Olivia Ophus (82), and Jessica Pancratz (77) are on pace to reach 100 or more kills in the near future. Laura Taylor averages 9.79 assists per set (548 total), while also leading the team with 16 service aces.
Defensively Bruna Silva, the reigning Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, leads the team with 268 digs, averaging 4.79 per set, while Ophus (152/2.71) and Laura Taylor (107/1.91) have each reached the triple-figure plateau. McVicker is the team's leading blocker, averaging .89 blocks per set, while Fernandes and Pancratz have 38 and 31 total blocks, each.
QUICK HITTERS
• Freshman Emily Spencer ranks 33rd in NCAA Division I in kills per set, and is the third highest freshman total on the list.
• IPFW junior libero Tessa McGill was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on September 12, the fourth time in her career she has earned the honor
• Freshman outside hitter Kendall Wienkes tied the IPFW single-match three-set record with seven service aces against the Cowgirls of Wyoming.
• With 32 digs against DePaul on September 10, Tessa McGill now has six 30+ dig efforts in her career at IPFW.
• Emily Spencer has recorded double-figure kills in each of her first 14 matches this season, the longest streak by a player to open her IPFW career in program history, passing the former mark of nine held by IPFW career kill leader Fabiana Souza.
• Junior libero Tessa McGill has recorded double-figure digs in each of her last 22 games dating back to last season, the second longest such streak in program history which gives her two of the three longest such streaks.
• McGill became the program's 14th member of the 1,000-dig club against Milwaukee, and now has 1,188 for her career, is ninth most in program history.
• McGill reached 1,000 career digs in just 69 matches, the quickest to the milestone of any player in program history.
• Emily Spencer has 11 double-doubles in her 14 matches at IPFW, while Megan Steenhuysen has picked up three this season, giving her 30 in her career, the ninth most over a career in program history.
• IPFW assistant coach Jasmine Fullove is the niece of Ball State head coach Steve Shondell, and her younger sister, Jaclyn is a freshman setter on the Cardinal squad. The coaching family continues as two other of Jasmine's uncles are coaches at Purdue, Dave Shondell the head coach and John Shondell an assistant coach.
