FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's tennis team will travel to East Lansing this weekend to compete in the 23rd Annual Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational. The tournament will be held at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
Michigan State will host Akron, Ball State, Cleveland State, Dayton, UIC, IPFW, Marquette, Miami (OH), Purdue, Toledo, Wisconsin and Xavier at the three-day tournament that runs from Oct. 5-7.
The draws have been released and it will be senior Anita Henestrosa representing IPFW in Flight A singles. Henestrosa will face off against Terashi of Ball State in the opening round. In Flight B singles it will be Caterina Kiefer matching up with Rugh of Toledo in the first round.
Theresa Neumeyr will be in action for IPFW in Flight C singles. Neumeyr will try to advance by playing Hernandez of Marquette on day one. In Flight D singles, Miloslava Shustova will face Sharples of UIC.
Rounding out the singles matches for IPFW will be Marcy Huck in Flight E and Kristine Lindal in Flight F.
In doubles action Henestrosa and Kiefer will look to win their second tournament of the fall season after placing first in the Ball State Invitational when they compete in Flight A doubles against Dayton. Neumeyr and Shustova will be matched up against Marquette in Flight B doubles, and the team of Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal will wrap up doubles competition in Flight C.
