HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The IPFW baseball team found their offense in the second game of the season, which happened to be game one of a scheduled doubleheader against the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M. The first win of the season was an impressive one as the 'Dons evened their overall record with an 11-2 victory.
Carter DeBoe had a monster game, going 3-for-5 from the plate with a double and six RBIs. His three-run homerun in the top of the ninth inning clinched the win for IPFW. Daren Boss and Kristian Gayday each recorded two hits in the early game. Gayday ended up with two RBIs.
Jason Kalber threw seven innings to earn the win over Alabama A&M. Kalber limited the Bulldogs to two runs off four hits. He walked six batters, but struck out eight. Steve Danielak came in to finish off Alabama A&M. He recorded three strikeouts in his two innings of work.
The 'Dons scored three runs in the top of the first inning and three more came in the fifth. Malcolm White scored a run in the top of the eighth and DeBoe capped off the win helping IPFW score four in the ninth.
IPFW scored first in game two of the doubleheader, but a three-run fifth inning was the difference as the Bulldogs walked away with a 3-2 victory.
Shane Trevino led the way in game two with a 2-for-3 performance from the plate. He recorded his second doulbe of the season. Markus Kalber and Daren Boss each recorded an RBI in game two.
Travis Reboulet was on the mound for the 'Dons. Reboulet allowed six hits through six innings. He walked two and struck out three.
IPFW will face the Bulldogs again tomorrow. It will be the final game of the four-game series.
