
IPFW Set to Host the 2012 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships

Summit League Championship Information
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW Mastodons will host the 2012 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend, February 24-25 at the IPFW Athletics Center Fieldhouse located on the campus of IPFW.
Pentathlon and Heptathlon events will mark the beginning of the league championships on Friday, Feb. 24. The women's 60-meter dash, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will officially start the two-day championship meet.
Field events will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the women's weight throw. Track events will also get underway at 3:00 p.m. with the women's 60-meter dash. The final race on Friday will be the men's distance medley relay. It is scheduled to start at 7:20 p.m.
Three Heptathlon events will get day two started at the Athletics Center Fieldhouse. The men's 60-meter hurdles will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the men's pole vault and the men's 1,000-meter run.
Field events will begin at 11:30 on Saturday with the women's triple jump. The first running event on Feb. 25 will be the women's mile run at 1:00 p.m. The last scheduled event is the men's 4x400 meter relay.
There will be an award presentation immediately following the championship meet. The ceremony will take place on the track and will recognize the following: Team Championship Award, Team Runner-up Award, Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place finishers in all events, Awards for individual members of the official team party of the championship team, Newcomer of the Championship Award, Track Championship MVP Award, Field Championship MVP Award, and the Coach of the Year Award.
The Gates Center has just undergone a renovation of seating and an addition of the Athletics Center Fieldhouse this past year. The complete facility connects four of the campus' main buildings: the Athletics Center, Gates Center, Walb Union and the Helmke Library.
For those wishing to attend, parking will be available in lots 12, 13, 15 or parking garages 2, 3, all of which are within 200 meters of the Athletics Center. Please enter through either the West or East Entrance of the Athletics Center. The Larson Ticket Office is located at the East Entrance.
An adult ticket to the Summit League Championship meet is $5. Youth tickets (ages 17 and under) are $3 and all students from participating school with an ID will get in for $3. (All tickets will be sold on a per day basis).
