Mastodon Netters Defeat Cougars, 6-1

CHICAGO - IPFW men's tennis (6-8) earned a 6-1 triumph against the Chicago State (0-9) on Sunday in Chicago, Ill.
The Mastodons started the day off in dominating fashion when they swept the Cougars in doubles.
Senior Roberto Cabrini and his No. 1 doubles partner freshman Connor Andrews earned an 8-5 win, while at the No. 2 slot sophomore Daniel Kang and freshman Joao Freitas also won 8-5. Freshman Andres Cobos and junior Junya Saruta took down the No. 3 position, 8-1.
In singles action, IPFW only dropped one match. Cabrini picked up a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win at No. 1, while Kang won by a 7-6 (5), 6-3 count at No. 2. Andrews claimed the No. 4 singles position, 6-3, 6-2.
The Mastodon netters will return to action March 24 with the start of Summit League play. IPFW will face South Dakota State in Fort Wayne at 2 p.m. at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club.
