Softball Looks to Keep Summit Shutout Streak Alive

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After recording three straight shutouts last weekend against South Dakota State, the IPFW softball team looks to extend its scoreless inning streak of 17 innings against the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland University this weekend.

ABOUT IPFW
IPFW comes into Friday's doubleheader after shutting out the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a three-game series by scores of 1-0, 8-0, and 10-0, holding the 'Jacks to just five hits on the weekend. Overall, IPFW has won 13 of its last 15 games.
This season the team is led offensively by Alex Bousquet, who is batting .434, while Mackenzie Ritsema is hitting .373 and Larissa Franklin .353. Courtney Cronin has a team-high four home runs and 19 RBI's, while Ashleigh Bousquet has 17 RBI's, and Alex Bousquet 16. Alex Bousquet and Kayti Hanson each have 17 runs scored.
Cronin is 8-1 on the year with a conference-best 0.81 ERA, while Miranda Kramer is 4-1 with a 1.29 ERA, second lowest in the Summit League. Megan Flenniken is 3-2 this season in the circle with a 1.54 ERA, the fourth-lowest in the conference. Cronin leads the trio with 52 strikeouts, while Kramer and Flenniken have 40 and 29, respectively.
ABOUT OAKLAND
Oakland has struggled early this season to a 1-12 overall record, with the team's lone win coming on February 25 against St. Peters.
Offensively the team is led by Erika Polidori and Erin Galloway, who are each 12-of-38 at the plate (.316 batting average). Polidori has two home runs, while Galloway and Shannon Cleveland each have six RBI's.
The pitching staff is led by Brittany Doyle who is 1-4 with a 6.52 ERA, while Katy Moy is 0-2 (7.53 ERA) and Bailee Braunreuther is 0-5 (8.40 ERA). Brauenreuther has a team-best 17 strikeouts in 25 innings, while Doyle and Moy each have 14 strikeouts, Moy in 17.2 innings, Doyle in 29.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Oakland leads the all-time series between the two teams by a 12-8 margin; however, IPFW is 6-4 in 10 all-time meetings in Summit League play. Oakland led 8-2 through the first 10 meetings all-time, including the first meeting in 2008 which was IPFW's first game against Oakland as a Summit League member. IPFW has went 6-4 since, including sweeping both League games in the 2010 season. Last year Oakland took the season series 2-1, despite being out-scored 12-8 in the three games.

• Courtney Cronin became the fifth player in Summit League history to have earned Summit League Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week in the same season, and just the third to do it in back-to-back weeks.
• Courtney Cronin's four shutouts this season give her 27 for her career, which is not only the most in IPFW softball history by a wide margin (second highest is five), but is fourth-most in Summit League softball history, and is five shutouts behind third place, current Western Illinois head coach Holly (Killion) Van Vlymen.
