IPFW Ends Michigan Series with 11-3 Loss

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- IPFW dropped an 11-3 decision to Michigan on Sunday afternoon. The Mastodons scored all three of their runs in the top of the eighth inning.
Michigan got out to a 2-0 lead by scoring a single run in the first and third inning. The Wolverines took control of the game by scoring four runs in both the fourth and fifth inning.
Kristian Gayday led the team offensively with a 2-for-4 performance from the plate. Malcolm White and Daren Boss also recorded hits for the Mastodons.
Gayday highlighted the eighth inning with a two-RBI double down the left field line. Hathaway walked to become the first base runner of the inning. Boss extended the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. Both Hathaway and Boss scored off the Gayday double. Malcolm White scored the third run of the inning on a Michigan passed ball.
Travis Reboulet was the IPFW starter on Sunday afternoon. Reboulet threw four full innings against the Wolverines. He gave up nine earned runs off 10 hits. Reboulet walked one batter and also had one strikeout.
Drew Overman entered the game from the bullpen to throw the next three innings. Overman limited Michigan to one earned run during his time on the mound. The final Mastodon to get time on the mound was Kevin Kimball. Kimball allowed two hits and struck out one in the bottom of the eighth.
The Mastodons will return to action with a midweek matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers. First pitch is schedule for Wednesday, March 28 at 4 p.m.
