
Four-Game Series Against Butler Up Next for IPFW Baseball

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW Mastodons will head to Indianapolis this weekend to face the Butler Bulldogs. The 'Dons will begin the four-game series with a game on Friday, March 9 at 3 p.m. The two clubs will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday and the weekend will close with a single game on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Butler enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-7. They most recently defeated Dayton by the final score of 8-5. The Bulldogs also have wins over Fresno State, UT-Martin and Belmont early in the 2012 season. They are led offensively by junior first basemen Pat Gelwicks. Gelwicks has been active in all 11 games and currently leads the team with a batting average of .417. Butler has 20 doubles this season in just 11 games. They also have seven home runs which helped generate 49 RBI's early in the year.
Senior Brad Schnitzer has two of the four wins on the mound for Butler. Schnitzer has only allowed one run in just over nine innings of work. He is second on the team in strikeouts with nine. The strikeout leader on this ballclub is junior Billy Laing. Lang has mowed down 14 batters in 12 innings for the Bulldogs.
