Men's Tennis Takes Down St. Bonaventure 5-2

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's tennis team (10-8, 3-0) picked up its fifth-straight victory after a 5-2 win over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (1-12, 0-4) on Sunday at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Mastodons earned the 1-0 lead over the Bonnies after a clean sweep in doubles action.
The IPFW tandem of Roberto Cabrini and Connor Andrews won 8-7 (7) at the No. 1 position while Daniel Kang and Joao Freitas claimed an 8-3 victory at No. 2. Andres Cobos and No. 3 doubles partner, Junya Saruta, won by an 8-6 count.
In singles action, the 'Dons claimed wins at Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 6.
Cabrini won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 slot while Cobos had a perfect first set performance, 6-0, then won 6-1 in the following set at No. 3. At the No. 4 spot, Andrews claimed a 6-2 win, but then dropped the following set 6-3 forcing a third set where he won 6-3. Martin Muadi won by a 6-2, 6-1 count at No. 6.
The Mastodon netters will return to action on Tuesday when they host Valparaiso at 3 p.m. at the Dr. Rudy & Rhonda Kachmann Tennis Center.
