ALL-TIME SERIES
IPFW holds a narrow 7-6 lead in the all-time series between the two teams, as all 13 match-ups have come since IPFW has been a member of the Summit League. The series opened with the teams splitting their four meetings in 2008, two in the regular season in Fort Wayne, and two at the Summit League Tournament in Cedar City. A year later the Mastodons avoided a sweep with a 5-0 win in Cedar City, before sweeping the season series in 2010. Last season the Thunderbirds took the league series 2-1, despite being out-scored 19-13.
MID-MAJOR POLL
According to the Softball Mid-Major Poll, the Mastodons are currently ranked 20th in the country. The poll, which recognizes all teams in the country outside of the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC, features IPFW 2012 opponent North Dakota State in 11th, and Southern Utah recent sweep victim UNLV in the also receiving votes category.
HEY, I KNOW YOU
IPFW freshman Larissa Franklin and Southern Utah freshman Tessa Loewen were teammates together on the Canadian Junior National Team, which competed this past winter in the Women's World Series Softball Championship. Also on that team was Oakland's Erika Polidori, giving the Summit League three representatives in the competition.
QUICK HITTERS
