Women’s Tennis at Home this Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's tennis team will be in action this weekend with four home matches on the schedule. The Mastodons will play Robert Morris and Chicago State on Friday, Feb. 15 and end the weekend with matches against Youngstown State and Trine on Sunday, Feb. 17.
IPFW is off to a 3-3 start to the 2013 season. Senior Caterina Kiefer was recently named Summit League women's tennis player of the week for her outstanding play from Feb. 5-11. Kiefer went 3-0 in singles play during that stretch of time and also picked up a pair of doubles wins. She improved her season records to 5-1 in singles competition and 4-2 in doubles.
Miloslava Shustova is also off to a great start for IPFW as the junior is 6-0 in singles play with a 4-2 mark in doubles competition.
Robert Morris is 0-6 on the year. Isabella Novella holds the best singles record on the team at 3-2. The best doubles tandem is the team of Marie-Sophie Heine and Carolina Teixeira at 2-1.
Chicago State is 2-6 this season with wins over Green Bay (6-1) and IUPUI (4-3). Karyn Emeralda is 10-3 overall in singles play and the team of Emeralda and Marnie Perez-Ochoa are 3-4 in doubles. The top doubles team on Chicago State is Carynne Lloyd and Vivience Noel who hold a record of 4-8.
The Youngstown State Penguins are 1-2 heading into the weekend. They defeated Dayton 6-1 on Friday Feb. 8 and they will face Western Michigan this Friday, Feb. 15.
The weekend series will end with a match against Trine on Sunday afternoon. Jessica Huhnke fills the top singles spot for the Thunder while Lauren Schlueter, Erin Kwaske, and Alex Mack will out the roster as top options for the team.
