Women’s Tennis Records Two 7-0 Victories

PEORIA, Ill. – The IPFW women's tennis team improved to 11-7 overall with two 7-0 victories on Sunday. The Mastodons defeated Green Bay 7-0 in the morning and then Bradley 7-0 in the afternoon.
“We played excellent tennis today and really battled through some adversity,” Head Coach Eric Burns explained. “I'm really proud of our effort today. It was out most balanced match this season vs. Bradley and this is a positive step as we go to Kansas City for our first conference matches.”
The No. 1 Doubles team of Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer went 2-0 on Sunday with an 8-4 win over Green Bay and an 8-2 victory over Bradley.
Theresa Neumeyr and Miloslava Shustova were also 2-0 in No. 2 Doubles with an 8-2 win in the morning followed by an 8-5 win in the afternoon. Marcy Huck and Kristine Linal made it a clean sweep by recording 8-0, 8-3 wins.
Henestrosa got the morning off as Sonya Sorokina got action at No. 6 Singles. She won 6-0, 6-1. Every Mastodon won in straight sets versus the Phoenix.
Matches were closer in the afternoon, but IPFW still won every match. Henestrosa came back to win 6-3, 7-5 in No. 1 Singles and Kiefer took down her opponent in No. 2 Singles 6-2, 6-0.
