Women’s Tennis Defeats Marian 7-0 on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW extending their winning streak on Friday afternoon by defeating Marian 7-0 on Senior Day. The Mastodons have now won 14-straight matches heading into the regular season finale.

Friday's match between IPFW and Marian was moved indoors to the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club due to cold weather conditions. Action started with Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer picking up an 8-0 win in No. 1 Doubles followed quickly by an 8-1 win at No. 2 by Theresa Neumeyr and Miloslava Shustova. Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal made it a clean sweep for IPFW in doubles competition with an 8-6 win at the No. 3 spot.

Henestrosa shined on Senior Day with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 Singles, but her fellow senior had to battle through an injury to pick up a 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 2 Singles. Kiefer was matched against Brittney Horlacher who came into the weekend ranked 36th in ITA Singles (NAIA).

Shustova and Sonya Sorokina easily defeated their opponents in No. 3 and No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-0 / 6-0, 6-1). The lineup rounded out with Neumeyr winning 6-3, 7-5 in No. 4 Singles and Huck taking a 6-3, 6-1 win in No. 5 Singles.
