Women’s Tennis to Host Dayton

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's tennis team will host the Dayton Flyers on Saturday, April 6 at the Pine Ridge Racquet & Fitness Club. The Mastodons have won 12 straight, and are now 18-7 overall.

The Mastodons were crowned as the Summit League regular season champions last week after sweeping three matches in the Oakland cluster. IPFW defeated IUPUI and Oakland on Thursday and ended competition with a victory over South Dakota.

Dayton is one of the final matches left in the regular season as the home finale will be played on Friday, April 12 and the final match of the year will be played two days later at Northern Kentucky.

IPFW will be the No. 1 seed when they host the 2013 Summit League Championships April 26-27. Leading the way will be the senior duo of Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer. Henestrosa is 18-6 overall at the top position and Kiefer comes in at 16-4. Kiefer has spent time at No. 2 and No. 3 Singles, splitting eight wins at each spot. The two senior's team up to form the top doubles tandem on the roster. They hold a 20-4 mark at the No. 1 Doubles position.

Miloslava Shustova and Theresa Neumeyr are 18-6 at No. 2 Doubles. Shustova has put together a great individual season in 2013 going 21-3 overall. Neumeyr is also a solid contributor at 13-7. The final pair that will look to score points for the 'Dons is the team of Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal. That combination has a 19-4 mark primarily at the No. 3 spot. Huck is 15-7 overall toward the bottom of the lineup and Lindal is currently at 11-10.

Dayton will use Saturday's match as a stepping stone to the A-10 Tournament as the matchup versus IPFW serves as the regular season finale. The Flyers are 5-14 overall and they enter the weekend having lost seven straight. The team kicked off the year with a 4-3 record, but has now lost 11 of their last 12.
