
McHugh Gains Points for 'Dons at Championship

MUNCIE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodon track & field team earned three total points at the first day of the 2013 Summit League Championships, hosted at Ball State University.
The Mastodons sit in seventh place in the field with three points, just ahead of Omaha with four points and Kansas City with eight. South Dakota leads the field after the first day with 54.5 points, as North Dakota State (46.5), South Dakota State (29), and Western Illinois (11) round out the top four teams in the field.
The Mastodons picked up all of their points in the javelin throw, as senior Theresa McHugh placed sixth in the field with a toss of 140-feet, 4-inches (42.77 meters).
IPFW also put competitors in the hammer throw, and were led by Kayla Zink, who put out a lifetime-best toss of 151-8 (46.23 meters), placing 13th, while Kaeleigh Porter placed 15th with a toss of 146-9 (44.74 meters). Rachel Dincoff opened her Summit Tournament experience by placing 20th with a toss of 135-2 (41.20 meters).
In the 10,000-meter run, the 'Dons were led by freshman Andrea Bell, who placed xxth in a time of xx:xx. Jordan Tomecek placed xxth in xx:xx, while Rachel Zachar took xxth in a time of xx:xx.
The Mastodons return to action on Friday afternoon, with finals in the women's shot put and 3,000-meter steeple chase, and trials in the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, and 400-meter hurdles.
