Shustova and Sato Lead IPFW in Season Opener

ROCKET INVITE RESULTS
TOLEDO, Ohio - Behind a 2-0 first day from Miloslava Shustova and Mayu Sato, the IPFW Mastodons closed the first day of the Toledo Rocket Invitational to open the season for all of the programs in the event.
Played as a hidden duel, with each group of three having the ability to earn a point for the team. In the only doubles competition of the event, Toledo took the point, winning two of the three matches, with IPFW's only win coming from Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal at No. 2 by a score of 8-7 (11-4).
At the first "A" singles grouping, the Mastodons took the point over Detroit, as Satu won at No. 1 by scores of 3-6, 6-2, 10-8, and Shustova a win at No. 3, 6-4, 7-5.
In "B" singles, Carlota Trevino picked up the team's only set win against Detroit (No. 5, 6-3, 6-4), as the Titans took the point with wins at No. 4 and No. 6.
In the second "A" singles pairing of the day, Satu and Shustova once again came up victorious, Sato at 6-2, 6-3, and Shustova 6-3, 6-4, while Duquesne swept the "B" singles, with No. 4 and No. 5 singles needing to go into a third tiebreaker set.
The teams return to the courts on Saturday for the second and final day of the competition.
