Mastodons Stumble Against Huskies

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The IPFW Mastodons battled with the Northern Illinois Huskies, and were in every match; however, fell to the Huskies 7-0 just outside of Chicago.
IPFW (0-2) opened the match with a 6-1 loss by Daniel Kang and Andres Cobos at No. 1 doubles, as the pair of Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi dropped their match 6-3 at No. 2. Jonathan Raa and Karl Wangensten-Oye took the team's only win on the day in a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles, 6-4 (7-4) after the Huskies had already earned doubles point.
Raa fell to Alex Langerlof at No. 2 singles by a 6-5, 6-2 score, before Cobos dropped his match by a 6-3, 6-4 to Frederic Cadieux at No. 3 singles. Northern Illinois secured the match when Simon Formont topped Wangensten-Oye at No. 6 singles by a 6-5, 6-3 score.Â
Guell fell 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to Jovan Zeljkovic, before Kang dropped a 6-4, 6-4 hard-fought battle at No. 1 singles to Dor Amir. The match closed with a three-set marathon-match as Muadi fell 6-5, 5-6, 11-9 at No. 5 singles to Carlos Manzanas.
The Mastodons return to action tomorrow, when the team faces off against Chicago State and UIC in the second and third match of the weekend.
