ITA Regionals Provide Final Contest of Fall for Women's Tennis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team will look to close its 2014 fall season in strong fashion, as the squad travels to Urbana, Illinois to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals, hosted by the University of Illinois.

MASTODONS IN THE FIELD
IPFW has placed three singles players and a pair of doubles teams into the tournament, with four other individuals on the alternate list. Sophomore Mayu Sato has earned a place in the Main Draw, while two others, Carlota Trevino and Sophia Sorokina have advanced to the qualifier round. There are 40 players selected into the main draw, as the top eight finishers from the qualifier will also earn a spot into the main draw. The doubles teams of Sato and Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal and Trevino have also earned a spot in the doubles draw.

11:45 a.m. Carlota Trevino vs. Mackenzie Bowman, Toledo
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons have been led this season by Sato, who is 7-2 in singles matches, improving her career singles record to 36-11. Trevino has five wins, with Sara Sherif and Sorokina each have earned four wins during the fall.
The doubles team of Huck and Sato is a strong 8-1, and are on a four-match winning streak. Two other teams, Alina Schibol and Sherif, and Lindal and Trevino, have each won two doubles matches in the fall.
